Swank earns COLT certificate
NWEC lineman Nolan Swank has recently completed the Central Ohio Lineworker Training program. Offered by Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, NWEC’s statewide trade association, and supported by the electric cooperatives of Ohio, COLT is a 4-year program composed of 12 courses that include 600 contact hours, which run alongside 8,000 hours of on-the-job training administered by the cooperative.
The COLT training facilities, located outside of Mt. Gilead, include a large indoor training building and a 16-acre outdoor training field. The 7,200-square- foot building includes a classroom and 19 poles under roof for working energized and de-energized exercises on three-phase and single-phase lines, while working out of a bucket or climbing. The outdoor pole farm features more than 50 wood pole structures and an underground open-loop system.
We congratulate Nolan on his dedication and hard work in completing the rigorous four-year program!
