COVID-19 Update: Message from Your Board Chairman and President/CEO

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) issue is impacting many areas of our lives. Here at North Western Electric Cooperative and NW Ohio Propane, we have been proactively monitoring the situation and will continue to do so as the information is being updated.
Safety is always our first priority for our member-owners, our propane customers, our community and our employees. During this time, we are focusing on maintaining a healthy workforce so that we can continue providing you with the excellent service that you expect from us. We have advised our staff on the appropriate preventative measures as advised by the CDC including enhanced hygiene and maintaining social distancing.
Our office is currently open during the normal business hours, however, that may change based on updates from government officials. During this time, we encourage all our member-owners and propane customers to use other options to make payments such as our convenient online services, our two outside drop boxes or our automatic pay-by-phone option for our electric member-owners (844-786-7799). Electrical outages can be reported via SmartHub or by calling 888-636-5051. Our propane customers can call 844-636-NWOP (6967) for out of gas emergencies.
We will continue to closely monitor the news and updates from federal, state and local officials as this pandemic continues. We do not anticipate any disruption to your service experience and will continue our focus on the health and well-being of our member-owners, our propane customers, our community and our employees.
On March 12, Governor Mike DeWine issued an order restricting all mass gatherings in the state until further notice. Based on the governor’s directive, the NWEC Board of Trustees, NWEC management and the cooperative attorney are reviewing the options for the Annual Meeting that was scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 18. They have been proactively monitoring the situation and discussing the potential changes that will need to take place to keep the member-owners, the community and our employees safe while still following the mandates of the Code of Regulations and the orders of the governor.
Article III, Section 1 of the Code of Regulations provides the purpose and details of the annual meeting, as well as a clause referencing directives in the event that the annual meeting is not held for any reason.
We are discussing options that would allow our member-owners to still participate in their annual meeting but our first priority is the health and well-being of everyone.
